Ethical conduct
We conduct business honestly, professionally and in accordance with applicable law. Commercial relationships are built on accurate information, clear communication and fair dealing with owners, charterers, operators and fellow brokers.
Anti-bribery and corruption
Tidegate Maritime does not offer, promise, give, request or accept any improper payment or advantage, whether directly or through third parties, in order to obtain or retain business or to influence any official act.
Facilitation payments are not sanctioned by the firm. Where a demand of this nature arises in the course of an operation, the matter is escalated and addressed with the principals concerned.
Sanctions and counterparty screening
Before recommending or concluding business, Tidegate Maritime screens counterparties and tonnage against applicable sanctions regimes and available ownership, management and class information.
Screening may cover registered and beneficial ownership, technical and commercial management, flag and class status, vessel history and trading patterns. Engagements presenting unresolved sanctions exposure are declined.
Anti-money laundering
The firm applies know-your-counterparty checks proportionate to the transaction and does not participate in arrangements designed to disguise the origin of funds, the identity of a principal or the true nature of a trade.
Conflicts of interest
Where a potential conflict arises between the interests of principals, or between a principal and the firm, the conflict is disclosed to the parties concerned so that they can decide how to proceed.
Confidentiality and information handling
Cargo details, vessel positions, rate ideas and negotiation positions are treated as confidential and shared only as required to progress the transaction with the principal's knowledge.
Safety, environment and crew welfare
Vessel screening takes account of class, statutory certification and operational condition. Tidegate Maritime supports responsible operations and does not knowingly promote tonnage or trades that disregard safety, environmental or crew-welfare obligations.
Raising a concern
Any counterparty, client or partner who has a concern about the conduct of the firm is invited to raise it directly with Tidegate Maritime. Concerns are reviewed confidentially and without retaliation.
